Are You Going to Beat The Challenge?

A day to think about the millions round the world who don’t have access to safe drinking water,

We are asking people to help us raise funds in March so more chidren can get access to safe drinking water by avoiding bottled water.

To see the difference our SkyHydrants have made to children in Bhutan schools you can watch this video.

It is not too late to sign up for the challenge at this link: DAA WATER CHALLENGE

Every $ Makes A Difference

Although a lot of the ‘Safe Water for Every Child‘ iinstallations are sponsored that doesn’t mean they are all sponsored!

Every year several units are financed from people making ‘General Donations’ to Disaster Aid Australia.

If you have made any donation to Disaster Aid Australia some of your donation will have helped several SkyHydrant Installations like these:

Gedu High School

Rhadi Middle School

Help Us Deliver Safe Water for Every Child

To help us raise money we have a challenge based on avoiding bottled water for the month of March.

CO2 Reduction with SkyHydrants

For several years we have been publicising that the SkyHydrant has the ability to filter water without the use of power.

However we have found that in practice, installation of a SkyHydrant has much greater environmental benefits in CO2 reduction.

This is because the SkyHydrant replaces alternative methods of achieving safer drinking water.

Bottled Water

Some people in the communities we help had previously have bought bottled water.

Manufacture of bottles, filtring the water, bottling, and transport of the bottles, has been independantly assessed to generate 140kg of CO2 per 1000litres.

If only 10% of the daily capacity of the SkyHydrant is used to replace bottled water that means a reduction of 51 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Boiling Water

Others in communities previously boiled the water to kill bacteria.

Boiling 1,000 litre of water on an open fire uses 77kg of wood which releases 130kg of CO2.

If only 10% of the daily capacity of the SkyHydrant is used to replace boiled water that means a reduction of 47 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Offset Comparison

Based on the above figures a single SkyHydrant can offset the equivalent of 249,000km to 268,000km driven in a medium car in a year.

Sponsoring a SkyHydrant could offset the CO2 emissions of your club or small business.

Turkiye-Syria Earthquake

The latest news about the massive eathquake is that over 11,000 are dead with 10s of thousands homeless.

Disaster Aid Australia is in contact with our closest Disaster Aid International partner, Disaster Aid Europe, who have strong contacts with Rotary Clubs from Turkiye and Syria who are helping on the ground.
