Disasters Don’t Have A Holiday

Just because it is Christmas Holidays doesn’t mean disasters stop happening.

On Boxing Day severe rainfall, causing major floods, hit the island of Mindanao in the Phillipines.

Our Local partner Balay Mindanaw are already co-ordinating with emergency authorities.

They are also arranging immediate deployment of DAA supplied SkyHydrantsunits to Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental to address the urgent need for safe drinking water.

Earthquake Hits Java

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Java on Monday 21st November.

The Cianjur region of West Java, 45 miles southeast of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta was the epicenter.

Currently there are estimated to be more than 268 deaths with many more injured.

Many hundreds of buildings have been damaged or destroyed with huge numbers of homeless.

Disaster Aid Australia has been in touch with our local partner through the COVID pandemic, the Rotary Club of Bandung Pakuan.

At the moment their main efforts are feeding the poor, especially the children, although long term help will be required for rebuilding..
