More Help For Karen People

For more than 4 years Disaster Aid Australia have been working with ‘Safe Water for Every Child Myanmar.

To date this has resulted in 20 SkyHydrants being installed in Karen villages close to the Myamar / Thailand border.

This is just one example of how Disaster Aid Australia helps other organisations which want to protect the health of people in developing countries.

Earthquake Hits Java

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Java on Monday 21st November.

The Cianjur region of West Java, 45 miles southeast of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta was the epicenter.

Currently there are estimated to be more than 268 deaths with many more injured.

Many hundreds of buildings have been damaged or destroyed with huge numbers of homeless.

Disaster Aid Australia has been in touch with our local partner through the COVID pandemic, the Rotary Club of Bandung Pakuan.

At the moment their main efforts are feeding the poor, especially the children, although long term help will be required for rebuilding..

Sponsor a SkyHydrant in Timor Leste

Background

During the DAA Conference on the 12th November as important topic was our future aid programs.

Our interest is developing a greater presence in Timor-Leste was helped by presentations of other organisations involved in helping that country.

Following the Conference the DAA board decided that they would extend our ‘Safe Water for Every Child program of ‘Sponsored SkyHydrants’ to Timor-Leste.

We will be working with two new partners; Yooralla Youth Ministeries and WH WASH Consultants as well as continuing to support our existing partner Rotary Projects Timor-Leste East.

Timing

Our plan is for the installation of at least 3 units to June 2023.

For 2023-20224 and beyond we would hope to attract enough support for 10 SkyHydrants every year.
