On learning of a ‘Major Disaster’ our first step is to contact local Rotary Clubs and/or Non Goverment Organisations (NGOs) to see if our support is needed.
Once we know that our support is wanted and the situation is safe for our volunteers we mobilise two members of our Disaster Aid Response Team (DARTs)
If one of the identified needs is safe drinking water our DARTs will take up to 4 SkyHydrant Rapid Response Packs with each pack being capable of providing 5,000 litres per day of drinking water to a community.
Once on site the DARTs start making contact with the local organisations which can help them evaluate the extent of the disaster and plan a suitable response.
Our first point of contact is often Local Rotary Clubs as their members usually have good connections throughout the community.
They can also can quickly identify other non Rotarians who will be provide local knowledge when planning our response.
As they become aware of the extent of the problem the DARTs can meet with the communities that they feel we can best assist.
Once the needs of the communities have been assessed we will:
We will then commence implementing the best response for those communities that we are supporting.
Again our contacts within the local community are invaluable as they are able to identify, and smooth out, any potential bottlenecks.
During the implementation phase it is important to continue to review
